World Bank approves $350 million for Lebanon, including $150 million for digital acceleration

The World Bank approved $350 million in new financing for Lebanon in late January 2026. The package includes $150 million for the Lebanon Digital Acceleration Project to modernize public services, alongside $200 million for a social safety net program.

The World Bank has approved $350 million in new financing for Lebanon, split across two projects aimed at supporting vulnerable households and accelerating the digitalization of public services.

    What’s in the package

According to the World Bank, the financing consists of:

    • $200 million for the Social Safety Net Enhancement and System Building Project

    • $150 million for the Lebanon Digital Acceleration Project

What the $150 million “Digital Acceleration” project targets

The World Bank said the Lebanon Digital Acceleration Project aims to:

    • Improve citizens’ access to essential government services

    • Empower businesses and entrepreneurs through a more secure digital environment and expanded market access

    • Strengthen government service delivery and operational efficiency via improved digital platforms and data capabilities

Why it matters for Lebanon’s tech ecosystem

For Lebanon, this is a notable external financing package tied directly to public-sector digital modernization. If implementation moves quickly, it can translate into demand for:

    • Systems integrators and IT contractors (platform builds, modernization work)

    • Cybersecurity and identity/access tooling

    • Local vendors supporting digitized workflows, data, and service delivery rollouts

The key variable will be execution: procurement timelines, vendor criteria, and how rapidly the government can operationalize upgrades at scale.
