Swiss Butter has opened its first restaurant in France. The new branch sits at 13 Rue du Faubourg Montmartre in Paris' 9th arrondissement, and it is the brand's 21st restaurant worldwide.
Diners in Paris get the same menu that built the brand in Beirut: steak, fries, and the rich butter sauce the restaurant is named after.
From a Beirut steakhouse to 21 restaurants
Swiss Butter opened its doors in Beirut in 2017 as a neighborhood steakhouse. It built a loyal following at home, then expanded across Lebanon and into other markets in the Arab region.
Europe came next. The brand took its steak to London and Madrid before choosing Paris for its latest opening.
Steak frites, served in the city that made it famous
Paris is a natural fit for the concept. Steak with fries is a classic of French dining, and Swiss Butter's menu is built around that same simple format.
That puts the restaurant in a city where diners already know the dish well. What it adds is the sauce that made its name in Lebanon.
A taste of home on Rue du Faubourg Montmartre
For Lebanese living in Paris, the new branch offers a familiar meal from home. For Parisians, it is a first chance to try a steakhouse born in Beirut.
The opening also places a Lebanese restaurant brand in one of the world's biggest food cities.
