Lebanon has one of the cheapest fixed-line broadband markets in the world, according to a new international price study. The country ranked 15th out of 214 nations, with an average monthly broadband bill of 14.23 U.S. dollars.

The figures come from the Broadband Genie Global Broadband Price League 2026, published by the UK comparison site this year. The ranking was featured on Lebanese broadcaster MTV, which listed Lebanon as second among countries in the region.

Only Egypt Charges Less in the Arab World

Among Arab countries in the study, Egypt had the lowest broadband cost at 7.91 U.S. dollars a month, enough for 6th place globally. Lebanon followed in second place regionally, ahead of Libya at 14.68 dollars, Algeria at 18.54 dollars, and Tunisia at 19.10 dollars.

That puts Lebanon well below the average for Western Asia, the UN grouping used in the study, which came in at 57.11 dollars a month. Gulf countries sat at the opposite end, with the United Arab Emirates at 105.92 dollars and Qatar at 104.43 dollars.

    How the Numbers Were Collected

Broadband Genie analysed 2,631 fixed-line broadband contracts across 214 countries. Researchers recorded standard monthly subscription prices in local currency, then converted them to U.S. dollars using exchange rates from late January 2026.

The study counted only fixed-line home broadband. It excluded business plans, bundles with TV or phone service, installation fees, and promotional discounts. Data was collected between 27 January and 10 February 2026.

What the $14.23 Figure Does Not Show

The ranking measures the dollar price of a broadband plan, not how affordable it is for local households. Broadband Genie said its league table is not designed to compare what people actually earn, and it points readers to a separate affordability index for that.

Currency swings also shape the results. The study's authors pointed to Iran, the cheapest country at 2.61 dollars, where a sharp drop in the rial made local prices look low once converted to dollars.

At the expensive end of the table, the priciest place for broadband was Wallis and Futuna in the South Pacific, at 373.88 dollars a month. The United States ranked 167th at 80 dollars, and the United Kingdom 70th at 31.43 dollars.
