UAE Plans to Run Half of Government on Agentic AI Within Two Years
    • The UAE aims to run 50% of government sectors, services and operations on agentic AI within two years.

    • Sheikh Mohammed said AI will act as an “executive partner” for faster services and decisions.

    • All federal employees will receive AI training.

    • Implementation will be overseen by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, with a taskforce chaired by Mohammad Al Gergawi.

    • The move comes as Abu Dhabi advances Stargate UAE, a major AI compute cluster backed by global tech firms.

UAE Sets Two-Year Timeline for Agentic AI Government

The UAE plans to run 50% of its government sectors, services and operations using agentic AI within two years, according to an announcement by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The model was launched under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Officials said the plan aims to make the UAE the first government globally to operate at this scale through autonomous systems.

    What the New Model Includes

Sheikh Mohammed said AI will no longer serve only as a tool, but as an “executive partner” that can analyse, decide, execute and improve government work in real time.

    The plan focuses on:

    • Government sectors

    • Public services

    • Core operations

    • Policy and process redesign

    • Employee AI training

    • Continuous performance measurement

Ministers and federal entities will be assessed based on speed of adoption, quality of implementation and mastery of AI in redesigning government work.

Federal Employees Will Be Trained on AI

The government said every federal employee will receive training to master AI. Implementation will be overseen by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while a dedicated taskforce chaired by Mohammad Al Gergawi will drive execution.

“The world is changing. Technology is accelerating. Our principle remains constant. People come first,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

    Stargate UAE Adds Infrastructure Weight

The announcement comes as Abu Dhabi advances Stargate UAE, a 1GW AI compute cluster within the wider UAE-U.S. AI Campus. OpenAI said the first 200MW of capacity is expected to go live in 2026.

G42 said Stargate UAE will be built by G42 and operated by OpenAI and Oracle, with participation from NVIDIA, Cisco and SoftBank. Reuters reported that the project forms part of a broader 5GW AI data center campus in Abu Dhabi.

    Why It Matters

The UAE has positioned AI as a core part of state modernization. The new plan moves the country beyond digital services and into autonomous government operations.

The announcement also signals a wider shift for public-sector workers. AI skills will no longer sit at the edge of government work. They will become central to how services, policies and operations run.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov reacted to Sheikh Mohammed’s announcement on X, writing: “That’s amazing. The UAE is becoming unstoppable.”
