Tutorak is a Beirut-based academic platform that connects university students with peer tutors, academic advisors, and mentors. Founded in 2026 by Chris J. Armache, the company's founder and managing partner, together with partners Marc Youssef and Abdul Nasser Halabi, it is built for students at the Lebanese American University (LAU) and the American University of Beirut (AUB). The idea is simple: the people best placed to help a student through a course are often the students who just passed it. Tutorak gives those students a place to teach, advise, and earn.
Two problems Armache saw as a student
Armache started Tutorak after running into two gaps in his own university experience. The first was access. Even when capable students were willing to teach, finding the right tutor for a specific course was hard. There was no single place to look.
The second was the absence of a community. Armache wanted a place where every student could get access to tutoring, and where everyone in that community, tutors and students alike, could build, grow, and lead. Part of that meant removing the awkwardness around money, since many student tutors felt uncomfortable asking classmates for payment or promoting themselves. Tutorak sits between the two sides, handles the structure around the service, and gives talented students a real way to earn from what they know.
What Tutorak offers
Armache, Youssef, and Halabi have organized Tutorak's services into four parts. The Tutoring Services arm covers private and group tutoring, exam preparation, and semester-long academic support. The Academic Advising Hub gives students peer-based guidance on courses, majors, and academic decisions.
The Consulting Hub, which is operational, focuses on consulting and case preparation, along with graduate school and career guidance. The Future Leaders Program, also running, handles leadership and professional development. Together, these four tracks are meant to cover a student's journey from first-year coursework to the step after graduation.
Why student-to-student
The platform's tutors and advisors are high-performing university students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals. Because they have sat through the same courses and dealt with the same expectations, Armache argues their support is more relevant and more accessible than traditional tutoring. A tutor who took the exact class last semester knows which topics trip people up and what the professor tends to ask.
Armache also frames the platform as a form of opportunity for the tutors themselves. Students with strong grades and real skills get paid work, teaching experience, and a track record they can point to later.
Early numbers
Since launch, Tutorak reports more than 100,000 profile views on Instagram, which the company reads as a sign of early student interest. The partners have recruited over 20 tutors and advisors from a network of high-performing students and graduates. The catalogue now covers more than 30 university courses across multiple majors at LAU, with AUB courses coming soon.
On the product side, the company has launched its Tutoring Platform, which connects students with tutors for private, group, exam-preparation, and semester support. It has also set up the Academic Advising Hub, giving students access to peer guidance on courses and majors.

Tutorak sums up its mission in three words: learn, grow, lead. The company says its goal goes beyond improving grades. It wants to help students make better academic decisions, build practical skills, and prepare for graduate and career opportunities with confidence.
"University should be more than earning a degree. It should be where students discover what they are capable of and find the support to become it," says Armache, the founder and managing partner.
