Getting a new touch line in Lebanon no longer requires a trip to a shop. The operator has launched a fully digital subscription service that lets customers buy and activate a mobile line from their phone, with the whole process taking a few minutes.

Karim Salim Salam, chairman and general manager of touch, announced the launch at a press conference attended by the company's board, staff and members of the media. He described the service as a key moment in Lebanon's digital transformation and confirmed it is now live.

A Passport, a Face Scan, and the Line Is Live

Sign-up happens inside the updated touch app. Customers pick a number, scan their Lebanese passport, then confirm their identity through biometric facial recognition. Once verified, the line is activated within minutes.

The first phase covers prepaid eSIM lines only. An eSIM is a digital SIM built into the phone, so there is no physical card to collect. Postpaid lines will follow in a second phase.

For now, the service is open only to holders of a Lebanese passport. Salam said support for the Lebanese national ID card will be added later as the service develops.

A Sign-Up Tested in Front of the Cameras

touch ran the system live during the conference. One person chose a number and completed every step of the subscription in front of journalists. The team then called the first customer to register through the platform, who had already received an eSIM.

Three Tech Firms Behind the App

Salam thanked technology companies Assentify, Intalio and Democ for their work developing and updating the app. He also credited touch employees for delivering the project.

On privacy, he said touch is committed to keeping subscriber data secure and confidential. According to Salam, the technical platform behind the service meets international data protection standards.

    Approved by the Telecom Minister

The launch follows a Council of Ministers decision and fits the Ministry of Telecommunications' plans for digital transformation. Telecommunications Minister Charles Al Hajj inspected the system and approved its operation, Salam said.

    3GB a Month for Early Sign-Ups

To drive adoption, touch is running a launch offer. New subscribers who buy their line through the digital platform get 3GB of free data every month for three consecutive months.
