Most people in Lebanon see a tax figure at the bottom of a payslip or a property notice and take it on faith. Far fewer can explain how that number was reached, or what else they owe and by when. Daribati, the first and only mobile tax application in Lebanon, was built around that gap. Launched from Beirut in 2025, it lets anyone run the calculation themselves before they ever pick up the phone to an accountant.
Five Calculators, Nothing Behind a Paywall
Daribati's free tools cover the taxes most people actually deal with. There is a calculator for tax on salaries, one for National Social Security Fund contributions, one for built property tax, one for real estate, and one for professionals taxed under the deemed profit rate, such as doctors, pharmacists, lawyers and engineers. All five are open to every user of the app at no cost.
That spread is deliberate. An employee checking a payroll deduction, a landlord working out what a building owes, and a self-employed professional estimating a yearly bill can all reach for the same app instead of five different sources.
The Paperwork Sits in the Same Place
Running a number is only half the job. Daribati carries every tax form and template needed for any type of submission, free to download for all users. Sitting alongside them is a directory of the emails and websites of Lebanon's administrative and public institutions, so nobody is hunting for the right address the week a filing is due.
Where the Paid Side Begins
Revenue comes from a range of tax filing and helpdesk services. A user taps the service they need and is redirected to WhatsApp, where the request is picked up directly. The calculators, the forms and the institutional directory stay free regardless.
Awareness Came Before the Business Model
Elie, co-founder of Daribati, started the project after noticing how little most people knew about their own tax position. "Many individuals, professionals and employees are not aware how their taxes are being calculated, and they do not know about their tax obligations," he says. He describes the app as an exercise in tax awareness first and a profit-generating platform second.
Registered as a Patent and a Trademark
Daribati is registered with the Ministry of Economy and Trade as a patent and a trademark. It is maintained and updated as tax laws and new regulations change, so the figures a user gets reflect the current rules rather than last year's. The next target, in the co-founder's words, is simply many more satisfied users.
Two Stores, Two Names, Two Languages
One practical detail is worth knowing before searching for it. On iOS the app is listed as daribati.lb, and on Android it appears as darayeb. Both run in English and Arabic, and either listing downloads in a single click. Daribati is also on Instagram.
